Where to write
feedback@verbraid.com for everything — bugs, unfair puzzles, words that should have counted, accessibility problems, and anything about privacy, data or advertising.
One person reads it, so a reply may take a few days, but every message does get read.
What is genuinely useful to report
Some feedback leads directly to a change in the code. This kind especially:
- A category clue that does not fit. This is the single most
valuable report. The meaning model is written by hand, so a clue that misdescribes
its answer is a real error in the data. A player once pointed out that
KIOSKwas being clued as "a building", when a kiosk is more the sort of thing that sits inside one. That was correct, and it turned out to be the visible symptom of a deeper bug affecting several other clues. - A word that should have counted. Guesses are accepted from a public-domain list of 8,689 five-letter words. It has gaps, and it has some entries nobody would call a word.
- An unfair puzzle. In Verbraid, an answer too obscure to be reasonable. In Weave, a grid where a word looked like it belonged to two groups at once, which should never happen and is a bug if it does.
- Anything broken on your device. Please include which browser and which phone or computer, because the awkward bugs are nearly always device-specific. A report that keyboard taps were zooming the page on iPhone is what led to that being fixed.
- Anything unusable with assistive technology. Both games are built to be played by keyboard and read by a screen reader, but automated checks cannot prove that and I cannot test every combination. If something does not work for you, I want to know.
Things worth knowing before you write
- Puzzles are the same for everyone on a given day, and they change at your local midnight.
- Progress lives in your browser, so a lost streak after clearing site data or switching device cannot be restored. There is no account to recover, which is the trade for there being no account to create.
- Answers can eventually repeat. With no server tracking history, a word can recur after a long while.
If you are reporting a specific puzzle, the number in the header (for example "Puzzle #42") tells me exactly which grid you saw.
